We finally received word from the agency we chose. We were denied.

They said the group they work with in Ethiopia does not accept applications from Mormons.

They have the right to decide of course, but with so many children that need a home, I don’t think it’s right to base a decision by a church the applicant belongs to.

So we did a little more research and found another agency that will hopefully work out. We send our application in today so hopefully in a week we’ll know.

Yep, another wait….sigh.

We’ve taught our kids when they’re done with a dish, to load it in the dishwasher. As soon as they understand language, that’s one thing they learn. Same with throwing trash in the trash can.

Dean loves watching me do laundry. He loves throwing clothes in the washer.

So today our darling 21-month-old decided to put a few ideas together.

He put a couple shoes in the dishwasher. Pierce’s shoes. He (Pierce) went to put a dish in the dishwasher and laughed and said, “Why did Dean put my shoes in here?”

Funny thing was, if I were going to put shoes in, I would have put them in in the same way he did.

Then I noticed a pink comb in with the silverware. Good place for a comb as well.

I just don’t know whether he meant to be funny (he’s a goofball) or if he really thought he was helping. It was cute, either way, and Pierce and I quietly put the shoes and comb in their proper places.

So this week is gonna be a little….interesting. Life should be taking a turn, in every area of life.

We’re hoping to hear back from the Agency we were interested in adopting through. I hope to hear they’ve accepted our application and we can move on to phase 2 (of a million).

Paul got a new position in church, one with more responsibility. He’s excited and looking forward to it.

There’s a change at work and he’s hoping to get a promotion.

*sigh*

I’m just not a fan of waiting. I can do it of course…just not a fan. (can you tell I’ve been on FB lately??)

Wish us luck :)

I was sent this email and thought it was funny, so I had to share :)

Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, “Where’s the self help section?”  She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

What if there were no hypothetical questions?

If a deaf child signs swear words, does his mother wash his hands with soap?

Is there another word for synonym?

If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

What do you do when you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?

If a turtle doesn’t have a shell, is he naked or homeless?

What was the best thing before sliced bread?

If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest drown, too?

If you try and fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Whose cruel idea was it for the word ‘lisp’ to have ’s’ in it?

Why are hemorrhoids called “hemorrhoids” instead of “assteroids”?

Why is it called tourist season if we can’t shoot at them?

Can an atheist get insurance against acts of God?

Some people are inept.  Does that mean the rest of us are ept?  Can you be unept?

…for my headache, apparently.

Bleached the shower, headache went away!

Guess the braincells I killed were the ones hurtin’…guess I should be careful how often I do that.

Yes, I’m going to discuss the weather.

If you’ve watched the news lately, you’ve noticed that it’s been snowing a bit here on the east coast. And by “a bit” I really mean WAY TOO MUCH.  We’ve had 2 big storms and lots of flurry days.

I just feel sorry for our chickens. Normally they get to go out in their yard, but with 2 1/2 feet of ice/snow, they’re stuck in their house. Poor things are so bored!! Every time I go out there, they come running to the door to see me, hoping for treats (which they get every day) and some break from the monotony.

I really do try not to complain…they way I look at it and tell Gabby, is this…what if we’re going to have a very dry summer or a drought? And this snow is a blessing in disguise, filling our well so we don’t run out of water? We just never know what’s in store in our future and we just need to take what comes and try to see the silver lining.

That being said, I’m still ready for spring!!!!!

So after much thought, prayers and consideration, Paul and I have decided that we’re going to adopt!

We don’t feel our family is complete quite yet and trying-to-conceive hasn’t worked out. We’re in the process of picking an agency and we’re just hoping and praying we get accepted and can be on-the-way through the process soon. It’ll take a while, a “hurry up and wait” kind of thing, but we’re ready and excited.

A week ago (on Sunday) I found out my best friend’s mom had passed away from cancer. The funeral was to be held in Utah and I knew I had to go.  So Tuesday (at 3am) I left for Utah.  My bff and I have been friends since we were 6…I’m not gonna do the math, but it’s been a long time…almost our whole lives. Her mom was my second mom growing up and an amazing person.

Tuesday and Wednesday I stayed with a sister in the northern part of Utah.  The funeral/burial was in southern on Thursday. So both my sisters and I drove down. Long story short, I rode back to northern Utah on Friday with my niece and her new fiance.  We had a nice drive and I don’t think I traumatized the guy too badly.

Saturday most of my fam went to Temple Square for the lights then to dinner at Olive Garden and Sunday I came home.

Seriously a long, stressful week. Paul’s parents took care of the kids during the day and he (obviously) had them when he wasn’t at work. He’s glad I’m home!

Thanksgiving went well at our house. My sister, bil, and their 2 kiddos were a fun addition to our home this year.  Turkey thawed out and was the best one I’ve ever had, thanks to my sis and bil.

So now we’ve got the tree up and decorated, the Christmas decos out, and about half of the presents wrapped and under the tree.

Pierce woke up this morning and asked, “Is it Christmas yet?”

It’s gonna be a long month for that kid!!

One of my brothers contacted me on FB saying there was nothing new here…Now, sisters and parents are one thing…but when my BROTHERS complain, it’s another ballgame. :P

So far, life is still good. Our Easter Egger chickens are slowly producing their green eggs, and one of the “she” birds turned out to be a “he” bird, so now we have a rooster. Before the sex change, its name was Tiger. I’ve since changed it to “Stupid Chicken.” Because when he crows at 6am or is parading in the neighbor’s yard, that’s all I think…stupid chicken.

Of course, Pierce doesn’t know how to spell and thinks “stupid” is a naughty word, so we spell s-t-u-p-i-d. He’s learning how to spell “stupid” before he knows what we’re spelling.  Quite amusing to us.

Kids had a great soccer season.  One of the coaches (for next year-Gab moves up a level) made me promise to sign her up next year…he’s hand-picking his team and wants Gabby. She’s proud and humbled…proud he wants her and humbled because she knows he has high expectations.

Dean is doing great…he’ll be 18 months old soon and is a bundle of fun. Whatever his big brother does, he does, and he doesn’t let the 3 years age difference matter.

TWO days to Thanksgiving! and my turkey is still frozen, so I’m in a bit of panic mode with that. Every thing else is planned and bought. I guess if the turkey doesn’t work out, I’ll send Paul out to find Stupid Chicken.

One of my sisters is coming tomorrow with her dh and 2 kids…My kids are completely stoked and ready to have cousins come. It’s a rare treat to have family out (and to have us go visit) so we’re planning on a lot of food and a lot of fun. I’m planning on all the side dishes (sweet potatoes, casserole, rolls, etc.) and 7 pies…I figure 7 MIGHT be enough :D     2 pumpkin, 2 pecan, 2 apple and a banana cream.

I’m gonna try and put up a couple pics…one of the 2 boys and one of a friend of ours holding Stupid Chicken.

There ya go, Jared…a whole post just for you :D
