So Monday was Memorial Day. We had great weather. Slightly overcast but warm, but not too hot. Just a bit of sun and breeze. Every year our church has it’s annual picnic at a nearby Nat’l Park, complete with lake, boats, tables, etc. Always lots of fun.
One of the teen girls came over to talk to me…she was trying to figure out a way to get her grandma wet. Oddly enough, Gab had brought a bag of water balloons. Most had popped (in my car!!!) on the way up, but there were still a few left. I got them for her and smiled. Then hubby and I walked down to the lake where Gab and Pierce were with a bunch of friends.
Later, on our way back to the picnic site, I noticed the lady, Ginnie, was wet all down her back. Innocently, I asked what happened. She said, “Oh, you know! You’re the guilty one that gave Ashley the water balloon!!”
We joked back and forth for a few minutes then I walked over to our spot. Paul had the baby and I had a drink (an unopened bottle of water) in hand. Ginnie decided that was a great moment to splash her water bottle on me. I tried to open my water quickly, but she had the upper hand. I got quite wet. Luckily, I got her back, though, so we were both a little soggy.
Long story short, after plotting for awhile, we got a few other people soaked. So by the end of the mass water fight, there was a total of 9 people that got wet, including myself. Great fun 😀
When the picnic was over, dh and I did burgers on the grill at home and went out for ice cream. All in all, a very nice Monday.
Unfortunately Tuesday decided to be Monday…I went out to my car to pick up Gab from school and noticed my tire was flat. I called dh and he took care of Gab and her orthodontist appt and then the tire. So Monday really decided to sneak in and take over Tuesday. Oh, well….such is life 🙂

Well, last night was my turn for Girl’s Night. Our theme was “I’m Seeing Red!”
It was fun…I made tomato soup, sandwiches, tuna-noodle salad and red punch. Of course all this was served on red plates, red bowles, and red cups. We also had red twizzlers and red-wrapped chocolate. Later for dessert, we had heart-shaped red velvet mini-cakes. I cut the tops off and spread icing in the middle. They were really good 😀
We played Valentines Day Pictionary, Truth or Dare, and “Guess how many candies are in the jar.” I gave a prize to the person who did the worst dare…the one who won ate a teaspoon of wheat flour. Ewww…The worst thing I did was stick dog food up my nose. Yes, it was very childish. But we had a lot of fun. Everyone had to do at least one dare. And we took plenty of pictures…confidential to Girl’s Night, of course.
So another good night! Everyone left at midnight and I was happy I didn’t have to drive anywhere. One of the many perks of having it at my house!

Being the slacker that I am, I am finally looking people up on Facebook. I’ve been on there a while, but never have done much.
It’s been fun…I’ve recently gotten in touch with a girl I was really good friends with in 9th grade. (So I guess she’s not really a girl anymore…well, technically, but now a lot older. Not that she’s OLD, just older than when I saw her last. And therefore not really a girl….I have a headache; excuse the thought process.)
I’ve been chatting with my niece who went off to college this last fall; she’s one of those really, really smart people that got a wicked scholarship into a smart school.
And of course, I’ve enjoyed throwing sheep and cows at various friends and flowers to others. I’m excited to see who else I’m going to find. Just in the last couple days, I’ve found 8 or 9 other people I knew “way back when.”
And I’ve even managed to figure out how to put pictures up, which is a huge thing. Yay me 😀
It’s been a lot of fun. If you’re thinking of people you used to know and are interested in finding again, check it out.

The first day of another new year. Love it 🙂
Last night we had friends over. They’re about our ages with 5 cute little kids (and she’s pg with the 6th) ages 8 to 2. It was not the quietest night we’ve had, but it was tons of fun. We had all the usual party foods (chips and dip, crackers and cheese, fruit and dip, pizza, bubbly (non-alco) and rice crispies) so the kids enjoyed that.
The adults played some games while the kids split into 2 groups…their 2 yr old, their 3 yr old and our 3 yr old upstairs in his room, and their other 3 and our dd were in dd’s room playing other games.
The fun came to an end when one of the kids came down and said, “The boys are playing in the toilet!” Oh, nice… Luckily it was their 2, not ours, so I volunteered our bathtub and Pierce’s extra jammies since they were soaked! I was glad I scrubbed the toilet earlier! lol still ewww though.
Now we have dd’s b-day coming up soon, then mine, then our 7th anniversary, then V-day! So the parties still won’t end for another month. And February is my month for Girl’s Night here. I love having an excuse to play 😀

Look what popped up by surprise!
This was given to me by The Un-Mom today! How cool is that?! I found her awhile back and am a stalker now 😀
So following blogosphere etiquette, I’d like to pass this on to a few of my faves, Mummy Diaries, It Is Nap Time, and Blue Monkey Butt!

Last Friday night was another Girl’s Night. I love those. I come home so renewed, feeling so good.
This time it was at a friend’s house (we rotate). We brought white elephant gifts to exchange; I ended up with a kitchen angel another friend makes. One of the women brought a bunch of baking stuff she didn’t want anymore, so I got muffin/cake molds in holiday shapes…I know, it’s all domesticated-sounding, but they’re cute! We ate, played games, won stuff, chatted for hours. I left the house at 5:40pm and came home at 11pm!
Getting out of the house to hang with friends again is so nice. We talked about husbands, kids, problems, ghost stories, cars, etc. I’m definitely looking forward to next month’s night out already! The next month I host will be February, so I’m sure I can come up with some good stuff by then.

A couple weeks ago I invited a friend to come work out with me…I need motivation. And if I know someone is coming over, it’s motivation to push myself and give her a good workout. I get a sick kick out of making someone sore. 😀 Really, that’s when I know I did a good job and did it right…not trying to be mean or anything. I’m not a personal trainer but I know what to do and how to do it well.
I told her this week I had been thinking about starting a workout group…a walking group on Tuesday and Thursday and a body sculpt/weight train group on Fridays. She thought that was a great idea, especially since she was thinking along the same lines. She also volunteered her house for Fridays since it’s rather big, and we can exercise there on the walking days if it’s cold or rainy.
So YAY!!! I made fliers and we’re starting up next week! The area where we’ll be walking is hilly, so it should be fun pushing 2 kids in a stroller uphill. Extra calorie burn! Wa-hoo!!

My sil suggested awhile back starting a book club. Shortly after that, a friend of mine started one. Nice timing. She suggested a book called “The Memory Keeper’s Daughter.” My friend said she couldn’t put it down, it was so good. And I remembered it was going to be turned into a movie.
I read all the summaries on/in the book cover and discussed the book with my husband. It sounded rather depressing. That’s as far into the book as I got.
It’s about a doctor who’s wife goes into labor with twins. The son is born fine, with no problems. The daughter is born with Down’s. The husband tells his nurse/assistant to take the daughter to an institution. Then he tells his wife her daughter died. Then the book goes on to tell of the difficulties they have as a couple and the woman’s depression after “losing” her daughter. And the son grows up without much of his mom’s involvement.
How is this supposed to be good?? I don’t want to be depressed reading a book where a family is torn apart emotionally due to some stupid man’s stupid lie. My point to reading any book is to learn something (non-fiction) or to be uplifted or entertained (religion or mystery–Agatha Christie).
So what was I supposed to get out of this book? If anyone’s read it feel free to share.
Hopefully next month’s will be better.

I was starting to panic yesterday morning when I had only heard from 2 people out of 5. One was coming, one wasn’t. But then I began to get phone calls so I had hope again! Three of my girlies showed up, then one called (who said she was coming) and said she wouldn’t be able to make it. So it was the 4 of us.
We ate and just sat around and talked for 4 hours! It was great. Most men would have been bored to tears and the children would have preferred bed to our conversations, but it was nice. It’s not often I (or the others that were here) get opportunities to just sit around munching and chatting about whatever comes up.
One of the ladies is really going through some hard times; I could tell it felt good to be able to talk to others about her struggles. And it was good to hear; it helped me appreciate that my life is ok at the moment. We also got to know her better and understand her, which helps build friendship and love. We all could relate to her stories to a degree.
We discussed kids, husbands, faith, funny stories, and what we had in common. We were all quite surprised how pieces of our lives are so much alike.
I told them I’d like to do this again in 3 or 4 months; one friend suggested we rotate homes and said she’d take the next party. Another one said we ought to do this monthly and said she’d take a month as well. So hopefully this will be an on-going event. YAY! I might have a social life once again 😀
