Posts Tagged “Blog”

A couple months ago Paul suggested I start a blog. I did. Recently I suggested he start a new one, a tech one. He did.

Yesterday he was on my buddy Wayne’s blog and found something fun called Entrecard. He signed both of us up. Now we’re both entirely hooked. *sigh*

Basically it’s like a blog tag game…and you earn points to gain advertising spots on other blogs. The cool thing is that you can go to one blog, which leads you to another, and another, etc. Before you know it, you’ve “dropped” on a bunch of blogs, who hopefully will drop on yours and it builds traffic.

I’ve found a bunch of great blogs out there already and I’m really looking forward to finding more.

I never thought I’d be as addicted to a computer as Paul :P

I recently ran across this post and found it very thought-invoking.

There’s so many false things “out there,” we (as LDS people) have been asked (if we want to and feel compelled to do so) to correct these things and to share our beliefs with others. I’m not a preachy-type…at all…really….ever. But I do have faith and a testimony of my beliefs. And I don’t mind putting what I believe on my blog. I’m not going to tell you you should believe how I do, or shove it in your face. I like putting my LDS-themed topics on Sunday, and if you want no part of that, I certainly understand and am not offended. And I’m not going to tell anyone they’re wrong for believing as they do. This is just my little way of expressing that part of myself.

So I was thinking…how do you feel about this? LDS, Baptist, Catholic, Athiest, Hindu, Muslim, whatever faith/religion you belong to. How do you feel about sharing your beliefs (without being pushy and preachy) with others online or especially on YouTube? Do you think religion is better kept private or just shared when people ask? Are you bold enough to declare to the world what you stand for?

I’d love to hear what anyone has to say.

Paul decided to start up a new blog for tech stuff, so now he has the family one and the tech one.

So here’s another shameless plug for his new blog if you’re a computer geek or techy person!

I signed up to get on a LDS/Mormon blog site and thought I’d share it!

It’s for LDS-themed blogs or general/political/whatever else blogs written by LDS members. It’s really neat to see others’ POV and what they think of life in these latter days.

Technorati is supposed to be one of the best blog sites. They have thousands of blogs and bloggers talking about everything under the sun and more. The quality of most of the blogs is high and the people are interesting and, in most cases, friendly. And I’d like to get my blog noticed on their site more.

BUT THEY WON’T UPDATE MY BLOG!! I waited over 30 days (35, I think) the first month after I signed on with them, before I emailed them to ask to update me. About 3 days later they did. I figured they were bogged down with new blogs and it was just taking awhile, and I’d stay updated. But, nope! Twelve days later and I’ve not been updated again. Almost every day I go on and hit the “ping” button. And my blog says I’ve been successfully pinged. Again, nope!

The really frustrating thing is that Paul’s being updated, and he’s way more infrequent than I am at writing. I think it’s a new blog conspiracy….I’m new, so I get put aside. How am I supposed to get noticed and move ahead if they push me back??

You’d think a site like theirs, with all the raves people give it, would be able to stay up-to-date. I’m signed up on a couple other places of slightly less notoriety and have no problems being updated at all.

What the heck, Technorati?!?!

Obviously I had my blog redone (thank you, Paul!) I went from blue to this nice autumn theme in time for the upcoming season.

And I want to know you think! If you’re a friend, family member, or someone I don’t know that’s nice enough to just drop by, leave a comment if you’ve got a second. Thanks!

I added a few more jokes to my pages. Feel free to tell me some and I’ll put them up!

Here’s the top 10 reasons why you should bookmark and read my blog often:

10. You’re bored and have nothing better to do.

9. You’re waiting to see how long it takes for me to say something totally stupid. (If you think I already have, keep reading! There will be more.)

8. I always have something to say.

7. To find out if we’re still here.

6. It builds character.

5. I said so.

4. To prove to your friends and neighbors that, yes, your (sister, daughter, friend, etc.) is legally insane after all.

3. You’re surprised I can write a complete thought.

2. I amuse you.

1. Because you love me!

Paul came to me a couple days ago with the idea of a blog. I kinda thought “Why me” but the more he talked about it the more I got into it.

He said if I tried hard enough (if??) I could even earn a few bucks! Wa-hoo, spending money!!  Apparently there’s sites you can check out that help you; they find advertisers and products to review then get paid for it. He told me one of the ones to get on is www.payperpost.com which is supposed to be one of the biggest and easiest.  We’ll see how that goes! It looks easy enough (hopefully I won’t mess anything up!) so I have hope.  And so my blog begins…
